Tributes have poured in for a "legendary" maths teacher who impacted "many of his students' lives".
Ormskirk Cross Hall High School has issued a moving tribute to one of its former teachers who died suddenly earlier this month. David Harris was described as one of the school's "finest maths teachers", who became the department's "trusted and friendly face".
Mr Harris, who passed away at the age of 77, was also known for organising the school's ski-trips before he retired from teaching in 1997.

Ormskirk Cross Hall High School said in a statement posted online: "It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of another legendary teacher of our times. David Harris was one of our finest maths teachers, who passed away, suddenly last week.
"Mr Harris will be known to many of you, having started at Cross Hall in the mid-'70s, becoming a trusted & friendly face of the mathematics department & organiser of many school ski trips, until his retirement in 1997. A teacher of this calibre is a rare thing to have, am sure he had an impact on many of his student's lives.
"The family have asked me to pass on funeral details for anyone wishing to pay their final respects or to share a memory or two, they are as follows:
"Service on Tuesday 1st November at St John's the Baptist, Burscough at 2pm. Followed by committal at West Lancashire Crematorium, Officiant Rev. David Branbury. Former students of Mr Harris flooded the comments of the post, with a number of people remembering the former teacher for his cars. Gaynor Woo said: "RIP Mr Harris such a lovely man. Always remember him driving his red kitt car around Aughton. Now reunited with his son."
Lynn Walsh commented: "RIP MR Harris he was a boss teacher I never did get a grip on maths but he had patience and a great smile who built kit cars."
Kelly Lee wrote: "Absolutely loved Mr Harris, a fantastic maths teacher who saw my potential & helped me move up a set. I also went skiing twice and his fantastic Freddie Mercury impression will never be forgotten. What a lovely man & true legend."
