A Radford father-of-two has been described as having a "heart of gold" by his family after collapsing in the street and passing away just weeks before his birthday. Nick Walton, 46, was walking along Radford Road to see his brother on November 26 when he suddenly fell at around 4.30pm.
A witness to the incident called paramedics and Nick was taken to the Queen's Medical Centre, where he was in a coma for two weeks before passing away on December 11. His death came just two weeks before his birthday and exactly a month after the passing of his grandma.
Adam Walton, 40, the brother who Nick was on his way to see, has paid tribute to his sibling as someone who would "have done anything for anyone." He also says that the family didn't find out about Nick's fall until two days later because he didn't have any ID on him at the time.
Mr Walton said: "He had bought a new phone that morning and so the only number on there was his ex-partner's, who then got contacted two days later. Before that we knew nothing at all and I was messaging his friends and everything because even though he was a grown man, I knew something wasn't right.

"When I actually heard that he was in the hospital I wasn't too worried at first, because I just thought that he would open his eyes. But all of us tried and tried and they never opened."
Nick Walton had two children, a granddaughter and as well as his brother Adam, he had two sisters. He is also survived by his mother and father and the family have now set up a fundraising page to try and raise a target of £3,000 to go towards the cost of his funeral, which is due to take place at the Bramcote Crematorium on a date yet to be arranged.
Adam Walton added: "We were really close and we weren't going to be doing anything in particular on the day that he was due to visit me, we were just having a general catch up like we used to do. Nobody is perfect, but he really would have done anything for anyone and he had a heart of gold."
All of the money raised by the family's GoFundMe page will go towards the funeral, with any left over going to his children. Those who wish to donate can do so here.
