Tributes have been paid to the 'irreplaceable' former Mayor of Sefton who has died at the age of 87.
Tommy Mann served as Cllr of Cambridge Ward in Southport for 12 years and served as Mayor of Sefton in 2006. His devotion to the role led to him winning the ‘Mayor of the Year’ award from The Co-Operative Bank in 2007.
Tommy moved to Southport in 1960 along with his family to take over the lease on Marine Lake along with his father Tommy Snr. He is remembered for turning Marine Lake into one of Southport's major leisure attractions.

The family also established the Southport sailing club which is now called the Lakeside Inn once hailed in The Guinness Book of Records as 'The Smallest Pub in Britain'. Speaking on the loss of her father Tommy's daughter Karen said: "My Dad was the centre of our family, always there with love and support whenever we needed it. We have been so lucky to have him in our lives he’s irreplaceable.”
Damien Moore MP for Southport shared his condolences he said: “I’d like to pay tribute to Tommy Mann who was an outstanding public servant and gave a lot to Southport over many years both as a councillor and tireless community champion. I send my deepest condolences to his family who will be in the thoughts of many at this very sad time.”
Sefton Council will also be flying flags at half-mast at Southport and Bootle town halls in tribute to his service. He is survived by his two daughters, 11 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
