Tributes have been paid to a teen who 'always had the last word' and loved sports. Finlay Topham, 16, an upbeat Nottingham Forest and Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club fan, died on March 10 from complications following a scoliosis surgery he underwent on March 2 at Queen's Medical Centre.
As well as his recently discovered scoliosis, Finlay had Duchenne muscular dystrophy, a genetic disorder which causes muscle degeneration and weakness that he had been diagnosed with at three years old. Despite the effects of his condition, Finlay's parents said the teen never let it impact his happiness or passion for his hobbies.
Finlay's mum Tracey Topham, 48, from Ancaster, near Grantham, said: "He was born with his condition and was diagnosed at three years old. It is a life-limiting condition - he lost his mobility in his legs at around seven or eight, and he then lost the mobility in his arms during lockdown.
