Tributes pour in after death of much-loved Kilmarnock community stalwart

Emotional tributes have been pouring in this week after the death of a Kilmarnock community stalwart.

Arthur Lynch, who was heavily involved in the running of John Walker Residents’ Association (JWRA) in the town, passed away suddenly.

He was a long-serving commercial director and associate director with Hamilton Academical and was still working from home despite being ill, the club stated.

He was a cherished member of the JWRA and he fought tirelessly on behalf of residents, and he led the charge against Scottish Woodlands back in 2019.

His dedication to the estate led to him setting up a gala day for locals in recent years.

Hamilton Accies posted a touching tribute to Arthur which was echoed by many.

Their obituary said: "It is with sadness that we learn of the passing of our long-serving commercial director/associate director Arthur Lynch.

"Notwithstanding his recent illness, it was a shock to learn of his sudden passing.

"Arthur came on board 20 years ago and helped out with many commercial matters, player sponsor, kit, programme advertising, matchday team sheets and hospitality etc. It would be fair to say he had his own unique style on a matchday.

"His recent illness had prevented him from attending games but he was still very much 'working from home' and still sent through the media team sheets for every match, just being updated by Scott on a matchday.

"Indeed when communicating with him at the end of last week before the Queen's Park match he indicated he was fine and perhaps hoped to get to a game before the end of the season.

"He will be sadly missed here, and our thoughts are with his wife Elaine, family and friends at this time."

The club also held a minute's silence for Arthur before their league game against Arbroath last Friday night.

An Accies fan said: "I had a few dealings with Arthur over the years, a nice and helpful guy, was kind to my son. He never hid his affection for Man City. RIP Arthur."

Another added: "Lovely genuine man. Great loss for both his family and the club. Rest in peace."
