Tributes paid to wife of former Ulster Unionist leader

Tributes have been paid following the death of Co Fermanagh woman Maureen West, wife of the late Ulster Unionist leader Harry West and mother of Erne North councillor Diana Armstrong.

Harry West served as the leader of the party in the late 1970s, while Maureen was also a long-time member of the UUP and was involved in many grassroots unionist and women’s movements.

A statement from the Fermanagh and South Tyrone branch of the party described Maureen as being ‘held in the highest esteem by everyone in the local community’.
