Tributes flood in from football clubs as former Blyth Spartans star Craig Farrell dies aged 39

Tributes are pouring in after former Blyth Spartans striker Craig Farrell sadly passed away at the age of 39.

Born and raised in Middlesbrough, the striker spent a major part of his career playing football in the North of England - with time at Middlesbrough FC, Leeds United, York City, Carlisle United, Whitby Town and Blyth Spartans.

He made 17 appearances for the latter in 2012, scoring seven goals before moving to Whitby Town. He also represented England in his youth, appearing three times in the national side's U-16 team - scoring one goal against Slovakia at the 1999 European Championship.
