Trevor Sinclair says he's found the strength to 'get back up again' after tweet backlash

Ex-Manchester City and England star Trevor Sinclair has taken to Twitter to say he has ‘found the strength to go again’ following a huge backlash after his controversial tweet about the Queen following Her Majesty's passing.

Queen Elizabeth II passed away on Thursday, aged 96, surrounded by some her family in Balmoral. Many in the football world paid tribute to the beloved monarch, with fixtures in the UK on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday postponed as a mark of respect, reports The Mirror.

However Sinclair, who played for City 82 times and represented England at the World Cup in 2002, penned a tweet in protest of the monarchy. The 49-year-old wrote: "Racism was outlawed in England in the 60's & its been allowed to thrive so why should black & brown mourn!! #queen."
