For all the surprising and encouraging success that the Jacksonville Jaguars had during their breakout 2022 season, the team didn’t receive many postseason accolades.
Doug Pederson finished a distant third in the NFL Coach of the Year race, and the team’s only two Pro Bowlers — Trevor Lawrence and Jamal Agnew — earned their spots as alternates.
Evidently, Pro Football Focus doesn’t believe there was a ton of elite football being played in Jacksonville either. The analytics site began releasing its list of the top 101 players of the 2022 season and two of the Jaguars’ biggest stars barely cracked the list.
Lawrence landed at No. 94 in the rankings, just a few spots behind cornerback Tyson Campbell who slotted in at No. 90.
The only Jaguars starter who earned a higher grade on the season from PFF than Lawrence and Campbell is pass rusher Josh Allen. But his 84.7 grade likely isn’t enough to crack the top 50.
Allen’s spot on the list will probably be revealed Tuesday when PFF unveils players 51-75 and that’ll probably be it for the Jaguars.
Later in the offseason (likely in August), the NFL will release its list of the top 100 players on NFL Network as voted on by players. A similar exercise already happened when the NFLPA debuted its first ever Players’ All-Pro team. While three Jaguars — Evan Engram, Brandon Scherff, and Agnew — finished top five at their respective positions, none earned first- or second-team honors.
