Trent Alexander-Arnold predicts Premier League title winner with brutal message to Arsenal

Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold has made his thoughts surrounding the Premier League title battle between Arsenal and Manchester City abundantly clear. Just one point separates the two teams with just a few weeks of the season to play and despite the race still being open, Alexander-Arnold has predicted City to take home the crown with a clear message to Arsenal.

The Liverpool right-back was one of the architects behind Arsenal's crumble during the run-in with his well-measured cross against the Gunners headed in by Roberto Firmino. That late goal was Liverpool's equaliser against the Gunners which then resulted in another two draws coming after that before a 4-1 drubbing at the hands of City.

A dominant London derby victory against Chelsea restored some hope, but City have since beaten both Fulham and West Ham to make it nine consecutive league victories. With Jurgen Klopp's men pushing City to the limit in for the Premier League crown on numerous occasions, Alexander-Arnold is well aware of how good Pep Guardiola's men are during the late season run-in.

In a recent interview, the 24-year-old explained exactly why City are now shoe-ins to secure another league title with a clear message to Arsenal regarding what to expect from the reigning champions if they find themselves in this position again.

“The league is obvious now and I’ve said it for a while," he told Red Bull, via Liverpool Echo. "If City are even anywhere close, if they smell blood at Christmas, New Year - it’s game over really. There's no stopping them once they start winning and, now at this point, I'd be surprised if they drew a game.

“I think it's got to be a mindset because they don't even go behind in games at this point. There's no messing around, there's no scares, there’s no ups and downs. Arsenal were exciting because, they were dropping points, but in an exciting way. Whereas City, I don’t even know how to describe it, they are like juggernauts.”

The title race will have a new chapter written this weekend and it could be a defining one. On Saturday, City welcome Leeds to Etihad Stadium where changes could take place with a Champions League clash against Real Madrid to come the following week.

Roughly 24 hours later, Arsenal take on Newcastle at St James Park, the same ground where a defeat last season saw their Champions League qualification hopes disappear, and another loss on Sunday could end their title hopes.
