Portobello’s latest taproom and smokehouse is set to open later this week after smashing through initial crowdfunding goals.
The team at Vault City Brewing said they are staggered by the amount of community support they have received after raising £44,051 in 60 days.
Earlier this year, the team sought to crowdfund £25,000 to open a taproom and smokehouse called Porty Vault.
“We’ve been blown away by the support of our Vault City community and of course all the lovely people of Portobello who’ve welcomed us with open arms. We’re truly grateful to everyone who helped us reach this amazing result. Porty Vault is taking shape so make sure you’re following our new page for the latest updates,” the team at Porty Vault said on Instagram.

Vault City Brewing is a leading UK brewery based in Edinburgh that makes some of Britain’s best selling sour beers.
However, this year the locally owned and operated company decided to take a massive leap forward to open a taproom and smokehouse on Portobello’s high street.
“We have already enjoyed great success with the Wee Vault and adding a new bar to the portfolio is a natural step. As with any part of the business, we will grow with demand, and there’s every possibility we could open bars in other locations around the country,” Steven Smith-Hay, Vault City Brewing’s co-founder said previously.
Porty Vault is taking over the site of the Skylark Bar on Portobello High Street and will feature more than 20 beers from the Vault City brewery, including some of their famous sour beers, as well as established favourites and guest beers.
The venue will also serve food, organised by chef Darren Lim, a steakhouse specialist with more than 25 years of experience. The menu will be BBQ inspired, with influences from Argentina, Patagonia and the US
Porty Vault officially opens on Friday 8 July, and bookings are now available.
