People in Sullia taluk of Dakshina Kannada district felt mild tremors on June 25 morning. However there was no damage reported.
Deputy Commissioner K. V. Rajendra said he has been receiving calls about tremors that lasted a few seconds in Sampaje, Aranthod and adjoining regions on Saturday. He was in touch with the state disaster management authority for more information about the tremor, including its magnitude and epicentre.
The tremor, recorded at 9.09 am on Saturday, had an intensity of 2.7 magnitude on the Richter Scale, according to the district administration. The epicentre of the earthquake was located 4.7 km northwest of Karike Gram Panchayat, Madikeri taluk, Kodagu district, bordering Dakshina Kannada.
