Liverpool have missed out on a famous treble after being beaten 1-0 by Real Madrid in the Champions League final at the Stade de France in Paris on Saturday evening.
After kick-off was delayed by more than 30 minutes due to problems outside the stadium, Liverpool were beaten as a result of Vinicius Junior's 59th minute goal. The Brazilian tapped home Federico Valverde's cross from close range.
It was Vinicius' 22nd goal of the season and it was enough to clinch the Spanish giants their 14th European crown. Liverpool enjoyed the better of the chances over the course of the 90 minutes but they could not find a way past an inspired Thibaut Courtois in the Madrid goal.

United scooped the Premier League title, FA Cup and Champions League in 1999, famously securing the latter crown against Bayern Munich at Camp Nou, scoring twice late on to seal a 2-1 win.
And following the full-time whistle in Paris, United's supporters wasted little time in making it known, taking to social media to gloat and poke fun at Liverpool's heartache. Below, MEN Sport has taken a look at what they have had to say.
