TravisMathew The Ringer 2 Golf Shoe Review

TravisMathew The Ringer 2 Golf Shoe Review.

As we break into summer golf where the ground is firming up and a soft spiked golf shoe's may seem more suitable, I truly believe the performance of a premium spiked golf shoe is unrivaled. The Ringer 2 golf shoe from TravisMathew is the perfect blend between style and performance and is the footwear choice of players such as Jon Rahm and Sam Burns for that reason.

I have to say, before seeing these shoes in person I was a little sceptical of the design and initially thought they looked a little 'chunky' but as soon as I opened the box my feelings changed. The fit is much shallower than I had thought and not half as wide around the heel area as first appeared. I opted for the white and blue colorway as I felt it offered the most versatility with styling although there is also a predominantly black color option as well as one that is mainly white, with black accents. I know some people love loud color and designs but I really like the simplicity of this shoe. The upper section on this shoe is all one color with just the small TravisMathew logo on show, offering a clean and classy look like some of the other best golf shoes on the market.

While some of the best spiked golf shoes offer superior traction and performance compared to their spikeless counterparts, they can often be a little firm under-foot and lack the cushioning that some of the best spikeless golf shoes offer. That, however, is not the case with The Ringer 2 golf shoe. Admittedly, this golf shoe felt a little tight across the mid-section of my foot when slipping them on for the first time and so if you have wider feet this is something to bear in mind. Aside from that, the SweetSpot cushioning system offered superb comfort underfoot and for those keen enough to walk 36 holes in a day, this shoe would rival all of the best golf shoes for walking.

The waterproof upper will keep your feet dry in inclement weather which is a big necessity for most golfers but thanks to air-mesh lining this shoe is very breathable and will perform just as well in hotter climates, allowing your feet to stay comfortable throughout the round.

The combination of spikes and the rough rubber sole create superb friction for those rounds in the rain and while the white color option may not be the way to go in the wetter conditions, The Ringer 2 golf shoe in black would make for one of the best winter golf shoes.

The Ringer 2 golf shoe from TravisMathew is definitely a shoe that should be on any golfer's radar if you are looking to upgrade your footwear this golfing season. Coming to retail at $179/£149 these golf shoes aren't the cheapest on the market, but few will rival the all-year round performance on offer from The Ringer 2 golf shoe.
