Travis Kelce is set to take the field in the Kansas City Chiefs' first preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Saturday, August 10. Chiefs coach Andy Reid has confirmed that Kelce, along with quarterback Patrick Mahomes and other starters, will see playing time in the game. This decision deviates from the norm in the NFL, where many coaches opt to rest their star players during the preseason.
Reid expressed his reasoning behind this strategy, stating, 'I'm gonna play everybody. All those young guys, I'd love to see how they compete. The higher draft picks are gonna be in there against a little bit better competition, so I want to see how they handle that.' However, the playing time for these key players will be limited to one quarter to ease them back into the swing of things.
