Travelodge has revealed 20 of its most ludicrous requests from customers in Wales over the last year. Following the lifting of coronavirus lockdowns, Travelodge said it had experienced a "stampede of customers" which has led to an influx of strange requests from customers during their stay.
Topics have ranged from customs and traditions to utterly bizzare and random requests. One person asked if they needed a passport to come over from England while another thought laverbread came from a local volcano.
One customer asked staff in the Cardiff Atlantic Wharf branch where Captain Morgan's ship sailed from. While someone who stayed at Llanelli Central requested a whole room to use as a wardrobe.
With weddings and receptions back after an extended hiatus, a panicked groom asked the manager at Llandudno Travelodge if they could get ordained that very day to officiate his wedding, North Wales Live reported. A mother of the bride staying at Colwyn Bay Travelodge, asked the hotel team if they could get it to stop raining immediately as her daughter’s wedding reception was being held outside that afternoon.
Shakila Ahmed, Travelodge spokeswoman, said: “Following a very difficult two years, holidaymakers have taken full advantage this year to enjoy everything they have missed during the pandemic and this includes holidays and business trips. We have experienced a significant increase in bookings across our 26 Travelodge hotels in Wales this year, with holidaymakers taking more short breaks and turning a concert or sporting event into a Minication. Also with more Britons holidaying on British shores than ever before our hotel teams in Wales have also received a high volume of interesting requests and questions especially around Welsh attractions, locations, local dishes, customs and traditions.
"Where possible, our hotel teams will go above and beyond to help customers as they relish a good challenge. However, there are some requests beyond their control such as getting ordained to officiate a wedding, stopping the seagulls from squawking and arranging a photoshoot with The Welsh Dragon."
Listed below are the top 20 most interesting and bizarre customer requests received by Travelodge hotel teams in Wales during the last 12 months.
