A group of travellers will be served an eviction notice after pitching up on an airport car park.
The travellers arrived at the car park next to offices used by Swissport and UPS on the grounds of East Midlands Airport at around 5pm on Sunday, February 27.
Pictures have shown five caravans set up across parking bays, along with six other vehicles.
A spokesperson for East Midlands Airport confirmed that the airport was aware of the situation and that steps were being taken to remove the caravans from the car park.
An East Midlands Airport spokesperson said: "The police have asked the travellers to move on and they’ve so far refused."
However, East Midlands Airport clarified that the area the travellers settled on was not airport owned, and that the landowner and the leaseholder would be serving notice.
An anonymous EMA worker said that one of the vehicles in question had blocked access to the car park and building.
A spokesperson for Leicestershire County Council said: "We are aware that a small group of travellers turned up at the airport at around 5pm, February 27.
"As this is private land, Leicestershire County Council will be helping and advising the landowners on what to do next."
UPS and Swissport have been contacted for comment.
