Traveller site planned for small Nottinghamshire village that 'only has about 70 houses'

Residents in a Nottinghamshire village say they are "shocked" the planning application for a traveller site on their doorstep. Many villagers in Besthorpe were not pleased to find out that a site for eight pitches had been proposed for land off Sand Lane in the "quiet" village, near Collingham.

In addition to the pitches, the planning application has also proposed an amenities building and 16 car parking spaces for the 1.1 hectare site. However, some residents have concerns about the potential site and the impact it could have on the area.

When asked about the site, a 79 year old who did not wish to be named said: "That would be a negative thing for me. I do not think that would improve the area very much at all.
