Travel broadcasting icon Judith Chalmers has shared her top tips for travelling – based on over 50 years of experience covering more than 744,000 miles. The 86-year-old veteran traveller, and former host of long-running ITV show Wish You Were Here...?, has compiled a list of her top 12 handy hints for a stress-free trip you can get excited about.
Her advice includes appointing a group leader, packing light, and learning a little lingo, as well as booking things early, always having a back-up of print-out tickets – and taking a comfy scarf. The presenter has also bagged a new and unusual role as “Chief Smile Officer” at Heathrow Express – appointed to keep train travellers happy, and help them have a smiley start.
It comes after research found the average adult gets into a grumpy mood five times each week, and it takes 20 minutes to come out of it.
