Traumatised passenger wakes up to sound of man peeing at his seat on flight

A first-class plane passenger has shared their horror after a fellow traveller began peeing while sat in their own seat, following an argument about using the toilet.

According to this stunned passenger, the plane had been delayed as staff had kept calling for the on-flight toilet tanks to be cleaned out, but didn't end up getting a response.

The traveller fell asleep, but awoke to the sound of a male passenger seated diagonally ahead of them across the aisle arguing with a flight attendant.

The flight attendant, who was already strapped into her jump seat ready for take-off, kept on telling the passenger that he wasn't allowed to leave his seat to go to the toilet, as they would be taking off at any moment. By this point, the flight had been delayed by approximately one hour.

Taking to Reddit, the shocked passenger wrote: "The flight attendant then called the pilot, and after she spoke with him she relayed to the passenger that we were about to taxi and he was not allowed to get up, and he was going to have to '?'

"While I didn't catch the tail end of what she said, I saw the man lean forward in his seat, and then he was looking around, I realised then that he must have opened his pants and then was peeing into some type of container in his seat - which was confirmed when we reached altitude and he then settled back in his seat and never got up even when the seat belt light went off.

"I was stunned by the whole thing - I was like is this really happening right now on a plane (and in first class no less)?"

Later on the pilot apologised to passengers, and revealed that they'd made the flight by literally one minute. A strict curfew at the airport meant that had they waited to let the man use the bathroom even for one minute, the flight would have been cancelled, leaving them stranded.

Reaching out to fellow Reddit users to see if anyone else had similar stories, the baffled passenger continued: "I, of course, have no clue if that man had any type of medical issue or not, maybe he did - but all I could think of is that the last thing I do, before I get in line to board my flight, is go to the restroom.

"So the whole thing seemed so bizarre to me. Has anyone else seen something like this occur on a flight before? Am I crazy for being so shocked?"

One person wrote: "Flight attendant here and here's what happens every single flight, every day. People will sit at their gate terrified to move because they literally think if they leave for one minute to go to the bathroom, the plane will come and go without them.

"So they board, full of p***, and run straight to the disgusting onboard lav instead of using the nice(r) terminal bathroom. Then they're stuck in the back galley for all of boarding.

"OR they've been in the sky club getting shwastey and they overshot it and had to run to the gate and had no time to pee. Either way, poor planning."
