Red hot inflation has been at top of mind for many consumers as they struggle to manage rising costs. For some, the solution is simple: paying with plastic.

According to TransUnion’s newly released Quarterly Credit Industry Insights Report (CIIR), credit card balances remain near record highs at $917 billion, which represents nearly a year-over-year increase of almost 20%. Delinquencies remained flat, but still higher than they were in the first quarter of 2022.
