Transport bosses highlight bus route alternatives as rail strikes to cause chaos

Three days of national strike on the railway network are set to go ahead this month. Tipped to be the biggest industrial action in the railway industry for decades, the strikes by railway workers will take place on Tuesday 21, Thursday 23 and Saturday 25 June.

An extremely limited rail service will operate on these three days and passengers have been advised to not travel by train and no rail replacement buses will be provided. Those who are looking to travel on those days are being asked to plan ahead.

Railway workers have voted overwhelmingly to strike in a bitter dispute over jobs, pay and conditions. Members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport union (RMT) at Network Rail and 15 train operators backed launching a campaign of industrial action.

The union said more than 50,000 railway workers will walk out on June 21, adding that the action will affect the national railway network for the entire week. The public are being warned that 'significant disruption will be inevitable'.

Transport for Greater Manchester (TFGM) have provided the public with information and some alternative routes that will help commuters make journeys across the affected dates.

There is no ticket acceptance in place on bus services. You will need to purchase a separate bus ticket for your journey.
