Transfer news LIVE!

Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United are all expected to be busy once the summer transfer window officially opens, though plenty of work is being done behind the scenes. The Gunners, the newly-crowned Premier League champions, are set to spend big again as Mikel Arteta sets his sights on retaining the title and going one step further in the Champions League.

Morgan Rogers, Jeremy Monga and Julian Alvarez have been linked with moves to the Emirates Stadium, while there could be some significant outgoings. Man United, meanwhile, are closing in on the signing of midfielder Ederson after reaching an agreement with Atalanta for a £35million deal which can be partly funded by the official sale of Rasmus Hojlund. Incoming Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso could lose both Enzo Fernandez and Marc Cucurella - both attracting interest from Spain - but Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton and West Ham captain Jarrod Bowen are said to be on the shortlist.

Tottenham are finalising the free signings of Marcos Senesi and Andy Robertson, and a deal for Savinho has been teased. Liverpool are hoping to appoint Andoni Iraola as their new manager imminently and Manchester City have seen an offer for Elliot Anderson rejected. Man Utd set for Ederson boost

Wednesday 3 June 2026 13:33 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

Manchester United are closing in on the signing of Ederson from Atalanta.

It was reported on Tuesday night that Man United had reached an agreement with Atalanta in a deal worth £35 million, with a medical still to take place before a four-year contract can be signed.

After bolstering their attack last summer, signing Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbuemo and Benjamin Sesko, Man Utd are on the hunt for experience in midfield to compliment Bruno Fernandes and Kobbie Mainoo.

Ederson, who turns 27 in July, has been a standout player for Atalanta in his 180 appearances for the club and has proven himself to be a versatile but reliable player in the deeper midfield positions, which will be especially attractive to United following the departure of Casemiro.

After missing out on Brazil’s World Cup squad, Ederson will without doubt be disappointed, but this could be a blessing for Michael Carrick.

Jamie Carragher issues worrying Andoni Iraola verdict

Wednesday 3 June 2026 12:53 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

It will be a summer of big transition once again for Liverpool after sacking Arne Slot and reportedly reaching a verbal agreement with Iraola as his successor on a two-year deal.

That paired with the departures of Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson and Ibrahima Konate will make the summer a time of overhaul and change.

While the writing had been on the wall for some time, Slot’s departure at the weekend did come as somewhat of a a surprise, due to Xabi Alonso agreeing to become Chelsea’s next manager amid strong links over a return to Anfield.

Carragher, speaking on The Overlap, questioned why Alonso was not prioritised by Liverpool if there was any reservations about Slot staying on for another season, given his experience in a high pressure environment.

Silva opportunity

Wednesday 3 June 2026 12:13 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

Fulham were fast becoming a yoyo club — too good for the Championship but too poor for the Premier League — until Marco Silva first pitched up at Motspur Park.

Silva’s departure from the club five years later, after rejecting a new £7million contract to instead become Benfica manager, comes only after the outstanding achievement of his 15-year managerial career: promoting Fulham back to the Premier League and stabilising them there, finishing 10th, 13th and 11th, twice, in four top-flight campaigns.

That he chooses this summer to wave goodbye is no shock.

Though player recruitment has been smart and shrewd, the club’s owner Shahid Khan has not always invested to quite the extent Silva hoped and expected. A club of Fulham’s size must make peace with its place in football’s food chain, but losing their best players to pastures new necessitated that Silva reinvents Fulham each year.

Thomas Tuchel decision hands Chelsea and Xabi Alonso an early boost

Wednesday 3 June 2026 09:41 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

World Cup heartbreak can be the catalyst for a smooth start to life at Chelsea for new manager Xabi Alonso.

There was nothing smooth about the way things panned out in their corner of west London this season, of course, with two changes of head coach plus two separate stints for caretaker boss Calum McFarlane culminating in only Chelsea's third season with no European football in the past 28 years.

Yet Alonso’s hire has been met with the appropriate level of acclaim to match his lofty stature within the sport both as a player and now manager.

Calmer waters are expected once he officially boards on July 1, and the level of player available to him in those early weeks and months are a further boost to the Spaniard.

Atletico 'expect Arsenal to make Alvarez bid as contact made'

Wednesday 3 June 2026 07:55 , Alex Young

Atletico Madrid expect Arsenal to make a move for Julian Alvarez.

Barcelona remain keen admirers of Alvarez, and appear to be Arsenal’s biggest rivals for the player’s signature.

However, Atletico are reportedly refusing to do business with Barca after growing frustrated with media coverage around their player’s future.

Spanish out RAC1 reported on Tuesday that Barca’s first bid, worth €100 million (£86.4m) was rejected by Atletico, who will continue to block the player’s move to Camp Nou.

That leaves Arsenal in pole position.

The same report claims that the Gunners have been in contact with Alvarez’s agent and Atletico are now waiting on official talks to begin.

Atletico have set their asking price at €150m (£129.6m), which would be break the record spent by a British club - surpassing the £120m Liverpool paid for Alexander Isak last summer.

A supposed source at Atletico was quoted by Libertad Digital said of Alvarez’s admirers: “Two weeks ago it was PSG, last week Barcelona, now Arsenal. We count on Julian for next season.”

Rashford tipped to make Arsenal move in 'rare' opportunity

Tuesday 2 June 2026 13:24 , Alex Young

Paul Scholes has encouraged Marcus Rashford to consider a move to Premier League champions Arsenal , with his future at Barcelona severely under threat.

Rashford has made it clear he would prefer to stay at Barcelona after helping the Spanish giants claim another La Liga title, notching 14 goals and 10 assists during his season- long loan from Manchester United.

It also looked as though Barcelona were poised to activate the clause to permanently buy Rashford for £26 million, but have since signed Newcastle United’s Anthony Gordon, who plays in the same position as Rashford, for £70 million.

Rashford remains keen to stay at Barcelona, posting a picture to Instagram with the caption: “Always a pleasure. Season 25/26 hungry for more.”

Scholes believes Rashford could be well served by a return to the Premier League if the La Liga champions have seen enough of him.

”Barcelona have a deal in place to buy him but I think they’re trying to get him cheaper,” Scholes said on The Good, The Bad & The Football podcast.

”That would be a great move, a great move for both parties. I think Arsenal would be a great move for him and the club.”

Man Utd 'make first move to sign Leao amid Arsenal interest'

Tuesday 2 June 2026 11:53 , Alex Young

Manchester United have made their first move to sign AC Milan star Rafael Leao, who is looking for a move to the Premier League this summer.

Leao has been with Milan for seven years and in that time established himself as one of Europe’s premier attacking talents, accruing 145 goals and assists in 291 appearances for the club. But Milan are in need of a rebuild after a poor season after not making Champions League qualification and Leao has been backed for a move.

United managed, under Michael Carrick’s interim watch, to finish third in the Premier League this season, their equal best finish since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was at the helm. They bolstered their attack last summer by bringing in Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbuemo and Benjamin Sesko, all of whom were utilised by Carrick, but they currently lack an out-and-out winger to further boost their attacking threat, and Leao could be the man to solve this problem.

According to reports in Italy, United have made contact with Leao’s representatives, as well as Premier League rivals Arsenal, but no formal bid has yet been made.
