Transfer update emerges as Nottingham Forest chase Josh Bowler deal before deadline

Nottingham Forest are pushing to sign Blackpool winger Josh Bowler before tonight’s 11pm transfer deadline.

And suggestions they are competing with Championship rivals Bournemouth for his signature look to have been dismissed.

The Sun claimed the Cherries were ready to rival the Reds for the 22-year-old in the final hours of the January window.

But BBC reporter Kris Temple, when asked about those links on Twitter, said Bowler “won’t be going to Bournemouth”.

Forest have already had multiple bids rejected for the wide man this month, but were said to be “creeping ever closer” to the Seasiders’ asking price.

Blackpool are thought to be looking for at least seven-figures for the former QPR youngster, who has also been linked with Fulham, Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City.

Forest have already made three signings in the January window, bringing in striker Keinan Davis, defender Steve Cook and full-back Richie Laryea.

And they are closing in on forward Sam Surridge from Stoke City, as well as Dijon defender Jonathan Panzo.

Bowler made the move to Bloomfield Road in the summer, joining from Everton on a 12-month deal with an option to extend.

He has made 31 appearances this season and scored three goals.
