Nottingham Forest defender Richie Laryea’s future is in the spotlight as he comes towards the end of his loan spell.
The full-back returned to former club Toronto FC last summer, having struggled for game time at the City Ground since his move from the MLS outfit in January 2022. He has been in fine form during the current campaign, which started in February.
However, his loan deal is due to expire at the end of June - midway through the MLS season. It means a decision will soon need to be made on what happens next.

Last October it was reported talks had taken place between the two clubs over turning his move into a permanent one. TFC Republic have reiterated that stance, but say an agreement is yet to be reached.
Laryea penned a three-and-a-half-year contract when he joined Forest in a deal thought to be worth about $1 million (roughly £790,000). It was said he turned down the offer of fresh four-year terms at Toronto in order to cross the Atlantic.
He went on to make just five appearances for the Reds, with only one of those coming in the starting XI. Amid a squad overhaul following promotion to the Premier League, he was then among a number of departures last summer.
The 28-year-old was keen to play regularly ahead of last year’s World Cup, and it paid off as he caught the eye for Canada in Qatar. He then picked up where he left off and has been a consistent performer in the MLS this year.
He scored in two successive games last month and was this week named in the MLSsoccer.com Team of the Matchday for Matchday 10 for a “moment of magic” as he weighed in with an assist. It was his fourth goal contribution of the year.
