Nottingham Forest have suffered a transfer blow in their pursuit for Southampton star Che Adams.
The Saints are reportedly not "looking to sell" the player in this transfer window. According to journalist Alex Crook, he is also being described as a "key player" for Ralph Hasenhuttl's side ahead of the demanding Premier League campaign.
The Reds have been keeping tabs with the striker after reports emerged he would be allowed to leave the club this summer. The 26-year-old has been at St Mary's Stadium since 2019, after making the £15 million switch from Birmingham City.

Eyebrows were raised further when he was named as an unused substitute by the Saints in their 4-1 defeat against Tottenham Hotspur last weekend. The south coast side boosted their attacking ranks this summer by bringing in Sekou Mara from Bordeaux after Armando Broja returned to his parent club Chelsea and Shane Long joined Reading.
Hasenhuttl currently has Adam Armstrong, Adams and Mara as attacking options. Despite the recent speculation about the Scotland international's future, the club is keen to bring in another attacking player to their ranks and "not replace" Adams.
