Trains are at a standstill following a points failure in Cheadle Hulme. The failure is affecting CrossCountry, Avanti West Coast and Northern Southbound services.
"Services at a stand on CrossCountry, Avanti West Coast and Northern Southbound between Stockport and Stoke-on-Trent due to points failure at Cheadle Hulme," said traffic service Inrix.

Delays will be likely along the line, according to travel updates. Elsewhere across the train network, there is a reduced service on Transpennine Express around Leeds and West Yorkshire due to shortage of train crews.
Passengers are advised to check with train company before travelling. Some TransPennine Express services may face on the day alterations as a result of short-notice sickness.
