A trainee Metropolitan Police officer accused of following a woman and using software to track her movements has denied stalking.
Corey Williams, 25, has been charged with stalking involving serious alarm or distress over alleged actions towards Phoebe Taylor in August and September 2022.
It is said the officer, of Mildmay Road in Chelmsford, pursued Ms Taylor by “excessively messaging, following the complainant and using software to track her movements”.
He appeared in the dock at Westminster magistrates court on Wednesday to confirm his name, age, and address, and plead not guilty to the stalking charge.
Prosecutor Rhianne Neil said Williams is accused of “persistent” behaviour, including attending social events, using social media, allegedly waiting for her at a train station, installing a tracking device and a spyware application, and “excessive calls and messages”.
The alleged stalking campaign happened in Newham in east London, the court heard.
Williams’ case was sent to Snaresbrook crown court for a hearing on December 18, when a trial date could be set.
It is understood he was training to be a Metropolitan Police officer at the time of the alleged offending.
He was set free on unconditional bail until the next court hearing.
