Train traffic hit as huge boulders fall on KK Line following rains in Andhra Pradesh's Alluri Sitarama Raju district

VISAKHAPATNAM: Following rains in the tribal areas in Alluri Sitarama Raju district on Sunday and Monday, huge boulders dislodged from the hills and fell on the Kothavalasa-Kirandul (KK) Line, disrupting the movement of the trains.

The tracks were severely damaged for almost 40 to 50 meters. Luckily, there was no loss of life or injuries to anyone.

Huge boulders had fallen in between Borra Caves and Karakavalasa on the KK Line at around 5.30 pm, canceling many trains and also diverting a few. Train No 18514 Visakhapatnam- Kirandul Night Express leaving Visakhapatnam on Monday was canceled. The crew of Waltair Railway rushed to the spot for the repairs and restoration of the line.

The Waltair Railway Division senior DCM AK Tripathi said that the train No 18513 Kirandul- Visakhapatnam night express leaving Kirandul, No.08551 Visakhapatnam- Kirandul passenger leaving Visakhapatnam on Tuesday were cancelled. While train No. 08552 Kirandul- Visakhapatnam passenger leaving on Wednesday will be canceled

Train No 18513 Kirandul- Visakhapatnam Night expresses that left Kirandul on Monday will run in a diverted route via Koraput, Damanjodi, Rayagada, and Vizianagaram to reach Visakhapatnam. Stoppage eliminated is Araku.
