Rail workers will once again walk out on the job for 24 hours in a row over pay - threatening to plunge the UK into travel chaos.
National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers (RMT) has confirmed members from Network Rail and 14 train operating companies will strike on October 1.
The move will bring the railway to an effective standstill and comes after the union received no further offers from the rail industry to help come to a negotiated settlement.
Workers are disgruntled over job security, pay and working conditions.
In separate disputes, Arriva Rail London members, Hull Trains and bus workers at First Group Southwest will also take strike action on the same day.
It comes after a string of major rail strikes were suspended following the death of the Queen.
The RMT union also said it was calling off planned walkouts on September 15 and 17 as the nation paid its respect to its longest reigning monarch.
Drivers at 12 train operators who are members of union Aslef will also walk out on October 1 and 5, affecting travel to and from the Conservative party conference in Birmingham - and the London Marathon, according to sources.
The summer saw a flurry of strike action across multiple industries.
Workers are struggling to cope with the escalating cost of living crisis.
RMT general secretary Mick Lynch said: “Transport workers are joining a wave of strike action on October 1st, sending a clear message to the government and employers that working people will not accept continued attacks on pay and working conditions at a time when big business profits are at an all-time high.
”The Summer of Solidarity we have seen will continue into the Autumn and Winter if employers and the government continue to refuse workers reasonable demands.
“We want a settlement to these disputes where our members and their families can get a square deal.
"And we will not rest until we get a satisfactory outcome.”
