A forest staffer's quick thinking helped prevent a possible train accident involving a herd of elephants in West Bengal after he used a red flag to alert an approaching train. A video of the incident has caught the attention of social media users, with many praising the staff member for his timely intervention and efforts to protect wildlife. Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer Parveen Kaswan shared the video on X, praising Akash Kerketta, a forest staff member from the Kurseong division, for his quick response. According to Kaswan's post, the Sikkim Mahananda train was approaching on the Bagdogra–Naxalbari route when a herd of elephants was about to cross the railway tracks. Kerketta waved a red flag to alert the approaching train, prompting a response from the train pilots. Their timely action helped prevent a potentially dangerous encounter between the train and the elephants.
