Train driver and new wife delight commuters as they travel to wedding ceremony on the DART

An Irish Rail driver and his bride-to-be decided to travel to their wedding ceremony on board the DART today, much to the delight of many Dublin commuters.

Patrick Murray, who has worked with Irish Rail since 2019, hopped on the DART with his now wife Megan, stunning Thursday commuters on the Howth-bound train as they travelled to and from their Dublin city centre wedding.

While DART driver Patrick wasn’t behind the wheel this time as they headed for the registry office in Dublin’s Grand Canal Street, he did manage to to grab a picture with his new bride in his work seat before they headed off. Irish Rail congratulated the happy couple, sharing pictures of the pair in their wedding outfits.

Irish Rail tweeted its congratulations to the couple, saying: "Love in motion!! Congratulations to DART driver Patrick and his beautiful wife Megan, who travelled to and from their wedding ceremony by DART today. Wishing them a lifetime of happiness.”

In the pictures shared on social media, Megan is wearing a stunning white, embellished, fishtail design wedding dress, while Patrick is dapper in a grey suit jacket and black shirt and trousers. Social media users were quick to congratulate the newlyweds.

One person tweeted: "Brilliant, that’s the way to do it. Lot cheaper than a limo. Congratulations.”

Another person said: “Ah isn't that lovely. Congrats." A third commented: "Congratulations, I wish you all the happiness and the best in your future together and your marriage.”

The happy couple were joined by family and friends afterwards for celebrations at a Dawson Street restaurant, before toasting their new life with cocktails at bar Cafe En Seine.
