Tragic Sean Rice's marriage as skater marked final anniversary months before his death

Sean Rice's wife shared a throwback photo of their wedding just months before the Dancing On Ice Star died.

To mark their anniversary, Jodeyne Higgins captioned the sweet photograph of her and Sean smiling from the back of a wedding car: "Love you then, now, and always!"

Canadian native Jodeyne was partnered up with Sean and the pair went on to scoop bronze medals in skating in 1993 and 1995.

After spending so much time together on the ice, the pair eventually went from a professional couple to a married one.

They were Canadian fours champions four times running between 1993 and 1996, but Jodeyne decided to step back from competitive skating a few years later.

The pair have a daughter together, Signey who is eight years old.

Sean, 49 passed away on January 14 and the cause of his death is not currently known.

Fellow skater and friend of Sean, Frankie Poultney, broke the news on Twitter.

Frankie wrote: "Pro skaters are heartbroken today, we lost a true larger than life great - an epic skater, a husband, father, and my friend of 20 years.

"Sean Rice, 20/07/72 - 14/01/22 gone too soon, but we will Love You For A Thousand Years. All of our thoughts are with Signey and Jodeyne."

Jodeyne shared a snap of Sean and Signey in front of Christmas lights on Christmas Day with a message that read: "Wishing all our family and friends near and far a happy holiday season full of love and joy. Hugs from the 3 of us."

A GoFundMe page has already raised thousands of pounds to help Jodeyne and their daughter Signey, eight.

One message on the page paid tribute to "poppa bear Sean", and added: "The world has lost a great man - a coach, son, friend, husband and poppa bear. It’s with immense sadness to say that Sean Rice has passed away".

"Sean was a passionate, larger than life man who would stop and give to anyone who needed him. It’s with that same spirit, we are reaching out to everyone to pour prayers and love over Jodeyne and Signey during this very difficult time.'
