Tragic reality of Bruce Willis' dementia prognosis revealed as 'no treatments' available

The tragic and deeply sad reality of Bruce Willis ' dementia prognosis has been revealed after an expert confirmed that there are "no treatment options" left for the Hollywood icon.

The Die Hard star's family announced his dementia battle last year, with a fresh update coming in just two months ago - which revealed a more specific diagnosis to his fans.

His family released a statement in March, when they spoke of how his condition had "progressed".

At the time they revealed that the diagnosis was frontotemporal dementia (known as FTD), with Bruce's wife Emma Heming giving an even more up-to-date update just this week.

It was recently announced that the 68-year-old actor, who became a grandparent last month when his daughter Rumer Willis gave birth to a baby girl, has very "slim" treatment options.

In a heartbreaking statement, the 44-year-old admitted treatment options for Bruce are remarkably "slim", with Mirror US talking to Tim Parry, the Director at Alzheimer’s Research UK, to garner what this actually means.

"Our hearts go out to Bruce Willis and his family, following the awful news that he has been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia," he began before giving us an insight on the treatments available.

"As Bruce Willis’ family have highlighted, there are currently no treatments to slow or stop frontotemporal dementia," he said.

"Because of this, the focus is to help people with the disease manage their symptoms in everyday life. This is the tragic reality every single person affected by the disease faces today and we shouldn’t accept it."

Tim went on: "We praise Bruce’s family for their openness surrounding his diagnosis – this will go a long way in bringing a lesser-known form of dementia out of the shadows and put a spotlight on the need to for more research investment.

"We absolutely share their hope for breakthroughs and as the UK’s leading dementia research charity, we will stop at nothing until we deliver them and find a cure for all diseases that cause dementia."

This comes after Emma spoke about options being slim, with her saying: "When you live in the world of dementia you know that options are slim. But some won’t take that lying down which is how change is made, and I got to witness the beauty in that last night."

The health update came as she took social media to comment on the feature documentary film Little Empty Boxes, which follows Max Lugavere’s mum throughout her own dementia battle.

Bruce was diagnosed with aphasia in March 2022, with a more specific diagnosis revealed one year later.

The actor's wife Emma has now dedicated a lot of her time to raising awareness around brain health since his diagnosis.

She has even launched a new brand, Make Time Wellness, which puts brain health first in women's wellness routines.
