Police have launched an investigation after a man died following a crash between a lorry and a car on the M74 this morning.
The collision occurred near junction 10 and 11 by Lanark at around 7.50am..
The lorry was travelling northbound when it crashed through the central reservation barrier and onto the other side of the carriageway where it collided with a car travelling southbound.
The 32-year-old lorry driver was pronounced dead after emergency services rushed to the incident. His family has been informed.
The male driver of the other vehicle, a black Land Rover Discovery, was uninjured but has been left badly shaken.
Police Scotland has confirmed an investigation is under way to establish the full circumstances of the crash. The road remains closed to allow crash scene investigators to examine the area and conduct enquiries.
Officers are appealing to any motorists who were on the M74 with any dash cam devices to check their footage. It's possible it may have captured images which could assist officers in their enquiries.
