Tragedy of British Army veteran haunted by serving in Iraq and Afghanistan found dead at home

A young British army veteran - who was 'traumatised' after serving in Afghanistan and Iraq, according to his mum - was found dead at his home.

Ben Riches' body was found at his home in Lindel Road, Fleetwood, in Lancashire, on April 11, 2019, after he had been out with friends, an inquest heard at Preston Coroner’s Court on Tuesday (November 8). The former Kingsman of the Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment had served as a sniper and with bomb disposal teams and had been deployed to Iraq, Afghanistan and Canada during his time in the British Army.

Ben, aged 30, who had joined the army aged 16 and served in Iraq in 2008 and Afghanistan in 2010, was discharged in 2014. However, he was sadly declared dead at around 3am on April 11, 2019 at Blackpool Victoria Hospital where he was taken after being found at his home, LancsLive reports .
