Tragedy in Paisley as man dies after being struck by car

A man has died after being struck by a car in Paisley last night.

The tragic incident took place around 10.15pm in the town's Causeyside Street.

A silver Ford Fiesta collided with the 37-year-old pedestrian. Emergency services responded but the man was, sadly, pronounced dead at the scene. There were no reports of any other injuries.

The road was closed for six-and-a-half hours, as investigation work was carried out, and reopened around 5am this morning.

Now officers are appealing for anyone in the area at the time of the incident to get in touch as they bid to establish exactly what happened.

Sergeant Christopher Hoggans, of Police Scotland, said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who has died in this crash and out enquiries to establish the full circumstances are ongoing.

“We are asking for anyone who witnessed the incident, or who was in the area prior to the incident and who may be able to help to contact us.

“Two vehicles stopped to assist at the time and left prior to speaking with officers. I would appeal to those drivers and occupants to get in touch.

“I would also ask anyone with any dash cam footage or private CCTV which may assist us to contact us.”

Anyone with any information is asked to call the non-emergency 101 number quoting incident 4151 of 11 March, 2023.
