A woman has tragically been found dead at an address in County Durham.
Police were called to an address in Oswald Court, in Durham, in the early hours of Thursday morning (August 4) following reports that a woman had been found unresponsive. Sadly on arrival, a 40-year-old woman was found dead inside the property.
An investigation was launched after finding the woman's body and officers confirmed that the death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will now be made for the coroner. As it stands, the force has not released details on the woman's identity.
Witnesses from the scene said emergency services arrived in the early hours of the morning and remained at the scene for many hours. A crime scene investigation unit vehicle was seen parked up while forensic officers dealt with the incident.
A spokesperson for Durham Constabulary said: "Police attended an address in Oswald Court, in Durham, in the early hours of yesterday morning (August 4) following reports that a woman had been found unresponsive.
"Sadly a 40-year-old woman was found dead inside the property on arrival. Her death is not being treated as suspicious, and a file is being prepared for the coroner."
