Tragedy as man dies on packed UK beach during heatwave

A man died after a medical incident on a beach in Hastings , East Sussex , amidst a record-breaking heatwave across England .
Emergency services were called to the beach near Warrior Square, St Leonards, on Sunday morning following concerns for the man's welfare.
Despite the efforts of paramedics, the man was pronounced deceased at the scene, with police confirming there were no suspicious circumstances.
Sunday marked the hottest day of the year so far, with Kew Gardens recording 32.3C, making it the UK 's warmest May day in at least 79 years.
The UK Health Security Agency issued its first amber health alert of 2026 on Friday, warning of a significant impact on health and social care services until Wednesday.
