A man has sadly died after being rescued from a house fire in Newcastle.
Shortly after 2am on Sunday morning, Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service (TWFRS) were called to a fire at a property on Wilton Avenue. Three engines from Byker, Gosforth and Newcastle Central Community Fire Stations attended the blaze with the first crew arriving at the home within four minutes.
Firefighters entered the two-storey terraced house and rescued a 43-year-old man who was inside. He received emergency first aid by crews, however, the man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
