A man has tragically died after being hit by a train on the East Coast Mainline in Northumberland.
Emergency services were called to the train tracks near Cramlington Station at around 2am on Saturday. A man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
The man's family has been informed and an investigation has been launched into the incident.

A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: "British Transport Police were called to the railway tracks near Cramlington Station around 2am this morning (8 April) following reports of a casualty on the tracks. Sadly a man was pronounced deceased at the scene.
"The man's family has been informed and our thoughts are with them at this time. The incident is currently being investigated."
Throughout Saturday morning, the lines between Newcastle and Edinburgh were closed until around 10am and a number of rail services were cancelled. And while lines have now reopened, passengers are being warned to expect delays.
A replacement bus service has been in operation between Newcastle and Edinburgh and passengers have been advised that they can travel on a later service. LNER added that tickets will be valid to use on Lumo services, CrossCountry Services, and Transpennine Express services.
Central Station was extremely busy with crowds of rail passengers spotted on platforms waiting for delayed trains to arrive to reach their destination.
