A 14-year-old boy has died after getting into difficulty in a Leeds canal.
The lad was enjoying a swim in the gorgeous warm sunshine close to a Lock at Knostrop Fall Lock 3, off George Mann Road, in Hunslet before he disappeared from view to the shocked disbelief of the group of friends he was with.
They desperately tried to save him before alerting emergency services who arrived within minutes. Despite their best efforts, his body was pulled from the lock around an hour and a half later.
