Traffic was queued for miles after vehicles on the M53 were halted following the concern for the safety of a woman.
Merseyside Police were called at around 6pm on Monday, November 14, following a report of concern for a woman on the Mount Road bridge, Wirral. Once officers arrived at the scene they immediately closed the road, which is part of the Clatterbridge roundabout, as well as closing parts on the M53 at junction five (Clatterbridge).
The closures caused heavy traffic in on the M53 both north and southbound. Traffic did not move for over an hour as Merseyside Police, the North West Ambulance Service and Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene.
