Trafalgar Square re-opened after after 'loud bang' reports

Trafalgar Square was briefly locked down by a police cordon

LONDON'S Trafalgar Square has re-opened after being put on lockdown briefly amid reports of a "loud bang".

Witnesses said police had carried out a "controlled explosion" in England's capital amid reports of a suspicious package.

It comes as many gather in London for Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

The Fire Brigade and Met Police were in attendance at the scene.

The incident has since concluded and Trafalgar Square has re-opened, though a police presence has remained at the scene.
