A traditional Irish cottage from the 18th century complete with a thatched roof and stone wall has gone up for sale in the west of Ireland - but it is painted a very noticeable colour.
The four-bedroom property is situated in Cloonacauneen in Claregalway and is just four miles to Eyre Square, the centre of Galway city. It is listed for sale at €375,000.
However, the cottage is not for the faint of heart as the outside is painted a bright pink colour with dark blue trimmings along the windowsills and top of the walls.
The unique colour scheme doesn't end on the outside, with one of the bedrooms, the bathroom and the living room painted lime green as well as purple doors inside the property.
The detached two-storey home sits on a one-acre plot of land with an additional two-acre field next to it with a stone wall boundary.
On the ground floor of the cottage there is an entrance hall that leads to a large sitting room featuring an original stone arch fireplace with an oil back boiler stove.
There is also a kitchen fitted with solid oak cabinets, a large family bathroom with electric shower and bath, another room that can be used as a utility room or an office.
Downstairs there is one double bedroom that comes with featured limestone wall and solid fuel stove.
The remaining three bedrooms are upstairs, two double bedrooms and one single bedroom, as well as a walk-in attic.
Outside the cottage has a covered patio area with a well-maintained garden and two large sheds out the back of the house with a smaller shed for storing fuel.
The cottage was last thatched in August 2018 and is one of the few original thatched cottages left in the vicinity of Galway city.
A thatched roof usually needs re-thatched by a professional about every 30 years, if properly maintained, which includes replacing the roof ridge every eight to 10 years.
The cottage is situated in an ideal location, surrounded by the countryside but just three miles away from the village of Claregalway, a few minutes drive from Galway city and a 10-minute drive from the scenic Lough Corrib.
