Popular grocery chain Trader Joe’s is set to open a spate of new stores across 12 U.S. states.
New stores are set to open all across the country, including in California, Washington, Utah, Louisiana, Texas. Florida, Kansas, Illinois, Massachusetts, Georgia, Arizona and New Jersey.
Three Trader Joes will open in Washington, in Spokane Valley, Woodinville and Seattle, and three in Louisiana in Lafayette, Mandeville and New Orleans.
Two stores are set to open in California, in Paso Robles and Anaheim Hills, and two in Florida, in Orlando and West Palm Beach.
Other cities include Oswego in Illinois, West Orange in New Jersey, Tucson in Arizona, John’s Creek in Georgia, Merriam in Kansas, Reading in Massachusetts and Herriman in Utah. Another store is also due to open in McKinney, Texas, according to local media outlets.
The California-based chain has already opened two news stores since the start of 2026, one in Hamden, Connecticut, and one in Miller Place, New York.
After adding almost 100 stores in 2023 and 2024, the grocer now has more than 600 locations nationwide.
The only states that do not have Trader Joe’s are Alaska, Mississippi, Montana, North and South Dakota, West Virginia, Wyoming and Hawaii.
The ongoing expansion comes after Trader Joe’s was revealed as America’s new favorite grocery store after edging out other supermarket giants Public and Costco.
The chain earned a customer satisfaction score of 86 points, up two from 2025, according to information released by the American Customer Satisfaction Index earlier this year.
ACSI’s annual poll surveys 30,000 Americans and includes 19 major companies plus the aggregate of smaller stores.
Despite its home on the West Coast, Trader Joe’s has become popular for its affordable, store-branded products, as well as for its friendly staff – usually wearing Hawaiian shirts – and fashionable tote bags.
As well as its new stores, Trader Joe's also unveiled plans for a distribution center near New York City, which will create 800 jobs, in September.
