Toyota unveils new look 2026 WRC challenger

Toyota has revealed a bold new look for its 2026 GR Yaris Rally1 cars that will contest this year’s World Rally Championship.

The Japanese marque, which won last year’s title, has opted for a fresh new livery utilising the team’s red, black and white scheme with red now the predominant colour.

For the past two seasons an all-black livery has adorned Toyota’s factory WRC entries, although during the summer 2025 rallies the team opted to switch to an all-silver look. One of the reasons for the change was that the silver reflected heat away from the cabin area of the car.

This new look will feature across the team’s five 2026 entries for world champion Sebastien Ogier, Elfyn Evans, new signing Oliver Solberg, Takamoto Katsuta and Sami Pajari.

Toyota heads into what will be the final season of the current Rally1 regulations with a 100% record during the ruleset, having won the previous four manufacturers’ titles. The brand secured its ninth WRC manufacturers’ crown in 2025 and now sits one behind Lancia, which has the record with 10.

Last season Toyota enjoyed one of the most dominant campaigns in WRC history, winning 12 of the 14 rounds. The run helped it overtake Citroen’s tally of 102 wins to become the brand with the most WRC victories and despite such a successful year, Toyota doesn’t plan to halt the development of the GR Yaris.

"We know we can improve on the package for 2026,” said Toyota technical director Tom Fowler. “A general improvement on the aerodynamic performance and there are also some transmission items we are looking at.”

The new WRC season begins in Monte Carlo from 22-25 January, where crews will tackle 339.15 competitive kilometres spread across 17 stages.
