Toy Story 5 director Andrew Stanton has defended making a fifth movie, saying the sequel tackles the “existential problem” that “nobody plays with toys anymore”.
After seemingly concluding twice with 2010’s Toy Story 3 and 2019’s Toy Story 4, the beloved Pixar franchise is returning next year with Wall-E creator Stanton at the helm, and the filmmaker has now insisted Toy Story 5 will be a worthy continuation of the series as it “allows [him] to embrace time” and children’s evolving relationship with their toys amid the reliance on technology.
