Shotts’ MP Anum Qaisar is inviting patients of a GP's practice in the town to a meeting with the aim of addressing ongoing issues with the service.
The parliamentarian is hosting a Town Hall meeting at Shotts community centre for patients of Burnbrae Medical Practice where they can discuss their experiences and work with partners to help improve the service.
A number of patients within the Shotts community have contacted the MP expressing concerns regarding the service they have received at the practice, which she is eager to address.
In a Facebook post advertising the discussion, Ms Qaisar said: “Since my election, I have been contacted by constituents who – for various reasons – have experienced issues with Burnbrae Medical Practice.
“I’m inviting my constituents to have a discussion with me on this matter – so we can hopefully come to a resolution.”
However, the Airdrie and Shotts MP emphasised that this discussion is intended to work towards supporting her constituents to get the care they deserve, not to penalise NHS staff who have been working round the clock to maintain patient services despite numerous obstacles.
She added: “Our NHS staff have been working tirelessly throughout the pandemic, and our GPs – who are at the heart of our communities – have had challenges.
“We’re not looking to lay blame and I am so thankful to all NHS staff, especially our receptionists who are often the first point of contact.”
The town hall will be taking place at Shotts community centre tomorrow evening, Wednesday, June 1 at 6.15pm.
The MP has asked constituents who wish to attend to contact her by email: anum.mp@parliament.uk
