TOWIE's Frankie Essex has opened up about her motherhood journey and revealed she's chosen not to breastfeed her twins to help her partner 'bond with them better'.
The reality TV star, 34, who welcomed twins Logan and Luella last month with her partner Luke Love, is unapologetic about her decision to not breastfeed and suggests society needs to stop stigmatising mums over how they feed they babies.
Weighing in on the often controversial breast Vs bottle debate, Frankie says mums are made to feel they’re putting their child’s future, or their own health, at risk if they can’t or choose not to breastfeed.
Speaking to OK magazine, about her choice not to Frankie said: “I decided I didn’t want to [breastfeed] – just for the fact it’s twins and I need some sleep and I felt like it was an important bond for Luke [to bottle feed them]. The men can’t bond as much if the mum is breastfeeding.”
But Frankie maintain she's putting her health first so she can be the best mum she can be to one-month-old Logan and Luella.
She added:“Where I’ve got the milk, the babies can still smell it. They suck like crazy when they’re on me, so I just pass them to Luke sometimes and they settle easier. He’s warm – he’s such a hot person. I think they love the warmth."
The telly fave says she's able to bring partner Luke more involved by bottle feeding and offering lots of skin-to-skin which they love.
Although she admits Luke was 'wowed' by her breasts as they ballooned when her milk came in, she's now letting her milk dry up, and wearing double sports bras to be accommodate them comfortably.
Frankie and Luke also told how the babies names both have the same meaning, after they were welcomed into the world on May 24.
Frankie explained: “Our son is called Logan and weighed 5lb 4oz, and our daughter is Luella and weighed 4lb 8oz.
"Luella has always been my girl name since I was 20 – I’ve never told anyone the name in case they stole it.
"Luke chose Logan’s name as he loves the [X-Men] character Wolverine, who’s called Logan.
"They both mean warrior, but we only found that out recently," she added.
